A jet possibly carrying millions of dollars in drugs landed on a Mexican highway last week. The plane then went up in flames. Local media reports state that the crew possibly set fire to the aircraft.
According to local authorities, the jet flew in from South America and was being followed by two Air Force planes ever since it entered Mexican airspace. Soldiers later discovered that there was about 390 kilos of – presumably – cocaine on board the jet, worth over 4 million euros.
According to Aviation Safety Network, the jet in question is a BAe-125. It is still unclear what exactly happened. Various media report that the smugglers set the plane on fire themselves, while other (local) media reports state that a military helicopter flew into the area and possibly shot at the plane.
