Wizz Air reported a loss of 108 million euros over the first quarter of 2020. At the same time, the airline launched 200 new routes in Q2.
Wizz Air’s loss over April, May and June amounted to EUR 108 million gross. Ticket sales decreased by 92.2 percent; total revenue therefore dropped to 90.8 million euros. This is a large year-on-year decrease, when the airline achieved a revenue of 691.2 million over the same period. The company still has 1.6 billion euros in cash.
Despite the financially difficult situation, Wizz Air has launched no less than a bold 200 new routes over the second quarter of this year. The company opened four new bases in Italy, Cyprus, Ukraine and Albania. The company also announced it is setting up a new base in Abu Dhabi, which will be operational from October 1.
