Jetstar’s New Zealand branch recovered rapidly in July, the Australian low cost carrier reports. The airline resumed its first flights at the beginning of the month and has shown a particularly strong recovery.
In July, when Jetstar started flying again, over half of the airline’s normal flights were resumed. By August, the airline is expected to operate 90 percent of its normal domestic flights in New Zealand. International flights are yet to be resumed.
New Zealand has COVID-19 under control relatively well. Few active cases remain in the country, as a result of which internal restrictions are increasingly being lifted.
Jetstar’s international flights from New Zealand will not yet be resumed. New Zealand is still almost entirely closed to foreigners. Only returning New Zealanders are allowed to travel to the country. The only international flights to the country are repatriation flights.
