A United Airlines Boeing 787 was evacuated at Newark Airport near New York on Sunday after a passenger said he was carrying a bomb. Emergency services rushed to the plane and were able to arrest the passenger making the threat.
The incident took place aboard flight UA2304 at around 4:45 p.m. local time on Sunday. The Dreamliner had just landed at Newark Liberty Airport when the passenger made the threat. After that, ambulance and police vans surrounded the plane and emergency services were able to make sure that the other passengers could leave the plane safely.
An airline spokesperson told Simple Flying that the situation erupted after an onboard medical emergency. “During the medical emergency onboard, the passenger made a remark which created a potentional security concern. The flight landed safely and the customer was transported to a local hospital.”
