Leasing company BOC Aviation has canceled an order for eighteen Airbus A320neos. A deal made on December 31, 2019 is therefore void. The cancellation by BOC Aviation has no consequences for Airbus’ order book.
The airline involved in the deal has decided to purchase the aircraft itself. The airline’s identity has not yet been revealed.
The previous deal already included a clause giving the airline customer the option to terminate the agreement with BOC Aviation and purchase the Airbus A320neos themselves. The airplanes must be delivered in 2022 and 2023.
BOC Aviation, part of the Bank of China, had a portfolio of 571 commercial aircraft, including outstanding orders, as of June 30.
