Lufthansa conducted over 150,000 coronavirus tests at Frankfurt Airport this summer in collaboration with Centogene. About one percent of the tested passengers turned out to be infected with coronavirus.
Approximately 4,500 tests a day were conducted in the test centre at Frankfurt Airport over the course of July and August. This amounts to more than 150,000 test cases in which 97 percent of the passengers digitally received the results within 24 hours. Currently, the test capacity at FRA has been expanded to 10,000 tests per day, which, according to the Lufthansa group, is enough to cover peak hours.
People who pre-registered for the coronavirus test, in particular those arriving from a high-risk area, could in most cases be tested after about 20 minutes. Most of the tests conducted involved travellers from more affected countries. In addition, nearly 50,000 corona tests have been conducted for people travelling to China, with the coronavirus test being mandatory.
The test programme will continue over the coming months and will even be expanded in collaboration with testing company Centogene.
